Course Overview

 The course is offered under School of Management and Labour Studies in TISS Mumbai and Hyderabad campuses.


The Foundation course is uniquely designed to sensitize students regarding diverse aspects of Indian society- social, political, ecological namely. Highly effective learning environment is provided to students were they get opportunity to apply their knowledge and skill in Field Work Programs.


During the two year program, students get placed in different industry sectors as part of field work program in curriculum which is crucial to integrate knowledge to real work situations.

The theory and practical interface is brought into by the unique pedagogical approach in TISS.


The course consist of total 93 Credits.

The First semester consist of Foundation Course, Philosophy of Research, Quantitative Research, Qualitative Research, Management of Human Resources and more

The Second semester consist of Financial Management, Labour Economics, Organisation Behaviour, Performance Management, Learning and Development

The Third semester consist of Employee Resourcing, Organisation Development and Change Management, Labour Law 2, Trade Unions, Strategic Management and more

The Fourth Semester consist of Corporate Governance & Business Ethics, Business Analytics, In-depth Expertise in HR Management & Labour Relations Across Service-Based Industries, and more

 

HRM and LR students undergo hands-on training with four diverse companies over their two-year academic journey.

The fieldwork programme comprises the following:

1. Concurrent placement - In the first two semesters, students attend fieldwork in two different organizations, twice a week

2. NGO Block placement- At the end of the fourth semester, the students work in an NGO for one month.

3. Corporate BLOCK placement - In the third and fourth semesters, students undertake a month long block fieldwork placement in two different organizations

4. Rural immersion-Prior to the commencement of second semester, students are taken for a week long rural visit.


It provide the students: live experience with challenging projects apart from diverse exposure.
